Matt
A level 4 Strength and conditioning coach, youth strength and conditioning specialist, level 3
Personal Trainer including Circuit Training, Nutrition and Advanced Fitness. Level 3 UK
Athletics Performance Coach, Level 2 Triathlon coach, Boxercise instructor and CIMSPA
member.
I’ve been qualified and working in sport and fitness for nearly 15 years and have helped
numerous people of all ages and abilities achieve their sporting and fitness goals; from running a marathon to completing a
heptathlon and many other sports in-between. I work with people at all levels, from those who train for a recreational purpose
to those who want to compete and play at the highest level. I keep the training specific to an individuals aims and ability but
also make sure it is enjoyable.
I coach and run a combined events athletic group who compete for Gloucester Athletic Club and I coach athletes who
compete in National and International age group championships. I regularly work with elite level coaches and their athletes to
continually develop my coaching. I am also the team manager for the Youth Development League lower age group.
I regularly compete in athletics representing Gloucester Athletic Club in the Midland league. My favourite event is the pole
vault and I love the challenge of the decathlon. I achieved a silver medal in the British Masters Decathlon in 2019. I enjoy
strength and conditioning training and strive to improve my own performance and body shape. Even though I train people
every day I do still struggle with weight and know the challenges of keeping it to a healthy level. This challenge gets harder
with age and being a dad and all the tasty treats that brings with it!
As well as athletics I’ve completed numerous half marathons, finished 2nd in my age group in the Cotswold Triathlon, walked
the Inca trail and walked up Kilimanjaro.
I joined the Armed Forces in 1996 and completed the very physically challenging basic training. In 2000 I started Kick Boxing
and continued my interest for several years. This was one of the reasons I became a Boxercise instructor.
In 2002 I left the military and joined the Emergency Services. In 2006 I completed my first half marathon in Stoke-on-Trent.
This has one of the largest hills I have ever run up after 11.5 miles.
I believe that all people of all ages can enjoy sport and fitness and achieve their goals.
Jacqui
Personal Trainer level 3 qualified; this includes Ante and Post Natal fitness. Degree in
dance, trained in ballet to the Royal Academy of Dance Intermediate standard and member
of the UK Cheerleading Association.
I have been a keen dancer and swimmer since my childhood. I studied dance over
numerous years and taught younger children in my own ballet school for 5 years. I
competed in swimming for several years to a County level. Initially I didn’t enjoy long
distance running but completed the Great North Run in 1997 and became hooked. I completed a full marathon in
Chicago in 2003. In total I have completed 16 half marathons and the one full marathon.
In 2008 I completed both the Inca Trail trek and walk up Kilimanjaro. I did these in company with Matt. My biggest
recent challenges were having a baby girl in Feb 2011 and boy in Apr 2013. I realised there isn’t a lot of help for people
who are pregnant and want to stay fit or those who have recently given birth and want to safely get back their fitness and
pre-baby shape. I qualified professionally in fitness in 2009 and have helped numerous people attain their goals working
as a Personal Trainer.
